Saints Play Hide and Seek from Swat (Pakistan)

Mountain meadow by Lajos Csordák

One day a renowned saint called Pir Baba of Bunir and his disciple Akhund Darveza Baba descided to play the game of Hide and Seek.

Akhund Darveza Baba was to hide first. He saw a big flock of cows going up a mountain and decided to hide in one of the cow’s horns. Pir Baba of Bunir being a great saint spotted his disciple at once and instructed him to come out of the horn.

Now, It was Pir Baba of Bunir’s turn to hide. Akhund Darveza Baba spent all his power and wisdom in attempts to spot his master, however he found that he had failed. Curious and desperate to know where Pir Baba of Bunir had hid himself, Akhund Darveza Baba called out to him and asked him to reveal himself.

Suddenly, Akhund Darveza Baba spotted something on the ground in a distance. As he grew closer, he saw a body wrapped in dust. A voice called out to Akhund Darveza Baba and said “Why hide in the horn of a cow when when you can take refuge in the ground. It is where we come from and it is where we will go in the end. Be it a king or a popper, good or evil, all shall come to rest on this earth. God alone stands above us and all of Earth.”
