At first, there were no men on the earth, which was entirely populated by woman. One day, a woman went fishing and caught a human eye. She put it in her basket, and when she went home and opened it, she found it had turned into a man. She told the other women, and they came crowding round, all wanting to eat him.
But he escaped, and as he ran along, he felled plantains across the path to stop the women following. They chased him, but kept falling and tripping over the plants. But one woman was stronger than the rest, and she caught him up, going through all the obstruction he tried to create, and made him her husband. It is said that everyone on earth descended from them.
